The interest in the construction of a swimming pool dates back to the late 1920's and early '30's. However, these initial plans did not come immediately to fruition. On August 28th, 1938, a new study for a potential pool began. But with the advent of World War II, the idea remained dormant until August of 1952. Finally, once more, the feasibility of a pool was discussed, but the necessary funds were not available. Not until the formation of the Little Club Pool, Inc., did the project reach a successful conclusion in 1969.
Approximately twenty families bought bonds to finance the project. In addition, the ice house on the original Ostrander estate was converted into a changing room for children, complete with showers. Initially, families cooked their own meals at the poolside, but with support from all, the Club outfitted the Cabana we know today, to prepare many of the meals from the inside kitchen.
Today, the pool includes a dedicated staff of certified lifeguards, who make available both private and group swimming lessons, weekly craft days, birthday parties, adult pool parties, and annual family events.
The pool is typically open from Memorial Day through Labor Day each year. The hours of the pool are:
Weekends from 5/24 – 6/15 11:00am to 7:00pm
Weekdays from 5/26 – 6/20 12:00pm to 7:00pm
Cabana weekends only 5/24 – 6/15 12:00pm to 6:oopm
After 6/20
Pool - Monday – Sunday 10:00am to 8:00pm
Cabana – Monday – Sunday 11:00am – 8:00pm
